Piedmont CASA expands services to Culpeper County

Beginning July 1, 2026, Piedmont CASA will officially expand its service area to include Culpeper County, ensuring that children in foster care there continue to have access to the advocacy and support of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).

The expansion comes after the leadership of Culpeper CASA approached Piedmont CASA last summer seeking a sustainable path forward. The program’s fiscal sponsor was no longer able to support CASA services in Culpeper so the future of the program and the children who depended on it was uncertain.

Recognizing the critical need, Piedmont CASA worked with community partners and funders to secure the resources necessary to continue CASA services in Culpeper. As a result, children in foster care will continue to have what every child deserves: a dedicated advocate who shows up, speaks up, and remains by their side throughout their time in the child welfare system.

Over the past several months, Piedmont CASA staff has worked closely with volunteers, court partners, child welfare agencies, and community stakeholders in Culpeper to ensure a smooth transition. Our priority is no interruption in advocacy and no child left without the support of a CASA Advocate.

Bri Taylor, the current Culpeper CASA Program Coordinator, will be joining Piedmont CASA as a full-time CASA Supervisor on July 1st. Bri brings 7 years of CASA experience and strong relationships with the Culpeper community.  She will supervise Advocates in both Culpeper and Madison counties.

For us, this expansion is not about geography – it is about children. It means that when a child in Culpeper enters foster care, there will be a CASA ready to stand beside them. That is a powerful thing, and it is only possible because of a community that believes every child deserves to be seen, heard, and supported.
